The same moment of the vocal on each tape: the gap between them is the delayMachine 1 feeds machine 2 from its record head; the dry comes from its play headArtificial double tracking (ADT) plays a copy of a voice a few milliseconds late, so one take sounds like two. Machine 2 records the vocal and replays it; the oscillator sets its speed, and so the gap. Flanging drags the gap through zero by hand. Watch is 1/8 speed.
